- Cleanliness and condition of facilities – Cleaning, pest control, maintenance and hand washing facilities.
- How the business in managed – Ensuring systems and checks are in place to manage food safety and the appropriate training has been undertaken.
Once these reviews have taken place the Food Safety Officer can then award a Food Hygiene Certificate based on the outcome of the review. The ratings range from 0-5 as follows:
- 0 – Urgent improvement necessary.
- 1 – Major improvement necessary.
- 2 – Improvement necessary.
- 3 – Generally satisfactory.
